Larry’s roots are deep in the Cedar Creek area. He relocated from Dallas in June 1971 to Mabank to be close to family.  Larry believes in strong family values and carries these as his foundation in how he runs his business, treats his employees and helps his customers. A graduate of the Texas A&M Philip J. Hamman Termite Control Training School, Larry explains he’s a life-long learner in the techniques of pest control best practices.

Based in Mabank, Williams Pest Control confidently serves the Quad-County area of Henderson, Kaufman, Van Zandt and Navarro and is licensed by the State Of Texas.

Williams Pest Control began March 1, 1988. Larry explained the business started slow but gradually began to pick up.  He admits, during the early years, there were several moments of doubt but through hard work, perseverance and grace of God things had a way of working out.

His toughest year was 1996 when the lake went low due to that year’s drought.  During 1998 he moved across from Gun Barrel City hall and business started to pick up.  Eventually, Williams Pest Control moved to its present location in Mabank about ten years ago.

I asked Larry how has a career in pest control had an impact on his life. He said the pest control industry has done everything in the world for me. It’s a good, honest industry.  It’s helped me to be in business for myself and also to build a successful 35 year old family business.

When asked what has surprised him the most about the pest control profession, his answer was, the way the chemicals have changed.  He says that he needs to stay current on all chemicals, continuing education, and stays up to speed on new techniques.

Larry’s favorite part about being a pest control professional is the people and solving difficult problems that maybe other pest control companies have overlooked.  His favorite part about small business ownership is the way people trade with people who trade with you.  Larry also acknowledges it’s the ability to be your own boss.  But at the same time, Larry says he’s mindful that he’s the employee of all of his customers who are, in effect, his bosses!

He also stays up to date on the latest online digital marketing and sales approaches.

When I asked him how technology has impacted Williams Pest Control and the pest control business, he pointed out that with the advent of Smartphones and cameras they were able to eliminate much wasted travel time to inspect insect samples. Today, customers can send images over the internet and we can show up ready to go and armed with a “License to Kill.”

Larry and his employees will be hosting a 35 year celebration at the Williams Pest Control Offices at 1428 South Third Street from 10:00-2:00 on Friday March 10. Ribs, Brisket and a Big Cake for all! Public Invited. Visit the Williams Pest Control site here: https://cutt.ly/a8AluSw
