Mabank Market Street-CCL.O’s December Lake Leader of the Month
For our December Cedar Creek LakeLeader of the Month, we’re breaking from the tradition of selecting one deserving business to awarding a street block full of them on Mabank, Texas’ famed Market Street. But first, here’s a bit of Mabank history:
Because of the nearby railroad and the fertility of the local soil, the Texas town of Mabank grew rapidly after it was first surveyed and later established by early settlers G.W. Mason and Thomas Eubank (hence the name ‘Mabank’) in the early 1900’s.
Unlike many neighboring small towns, Mabank weathered many changes over the years growing dramatically with the completion of Cedar Creek Lake reservoir during the 1960’s.
However, a casualty of the earlier, harder times was the old Mabank Market Street complex of 1910 era buildings. That is, until Sherri and Dennis Terry and family members Suzette Brown, Lezlee Cheet, Beverly Brown and many helpful neighbors and shop keepers stepped up starting in 2012.
Today, what has emerged is the careful and patient evolution of a blend of local retail shops, boutiques, salons and specialty businesses.
Three unique qualities come to mind as I think about what Market Street means to its customers and community:
- The Spirit of Home Town Shopping
- Neighbors Helping Neighbors
- Personalized, High Quality & Unique Gifts & Services
CedarCreekLake.Online met with several business owners to get their respective stories.
